Welcome to Reception!
In Reception we love to learn by exploring and investigating through hands on activities. This helps us to develop our own thoughts and feelings about the world around us. It is important for us to share, show love and kindness towards each other.
The class teachers are Mrs Kenny & Mrs Pickup, and the class teaching assistant is Mrs Stockburn
Each week we will put on the activities which the children will be learning in class. This will help you as parents to reinforce the work which we have covered in class. So for example if we were learning about money you could practise using coins whilst out shopping, when learning about 2D shapes you might hunt for them on a family walk, etc.
This is the patter for how we write numerals
Have a look on this link to find out more about phonics which helps your child to read and write. We follow the ‘Red Rose’ programme to teach phonics.

These are the end of year expectations for EYFS children. Children will either achieve the Early Learning Goals (Expected), or be working towards them (Emerging)
Below is a link to a website to read about how you can improve your child’s vocabulary at home. There is a strong emphasis on language and communication in the new EYFS curriculum, so please take time to read this. We would also recommend that you read to your child every night in order to develop their language and vocabulary.
