Welcome to Reception!
In Reception we love to learn by exploring and investigating through hands on activities. This helps us to develop our own thoughts and feelings about the world around us. It is important for us to share, show love and kindness towards each other.
The class teachers are Mrs Kenny & Mrs Pickup, and the class teaching assistant is Mrs Stockburn.
Class of 2025-26!
Class Information
These are the end of year expectations for EYFS children. Children will either achieve the Early Learning Goals (Expected), or be working towards them (Emerging):
If you want to ask anything or send any photographs please email ourschool@cliviger.com.
Each week we will put on the activities which the children will be learning in class. This will help you as parents to reinforce the work which we have covered in class. So for example if we were learning about money you could practise using coins whilst out shopping, when learning about 2D shapes you might hunt for them on a family walk, etc.
Week Beginning 1st December:
Numeracy - We are looking at the numbers 4 and 5, and looking at the composition of each number. E.g. 5 = 3 + 2, 4 + 1, 5 + 0, etc.
Literacy - This week we are practising writing CVC words, and simple sentences. In phonics Mrs Kenny/ Mrs Pickup’s group are learning the phonemes (sounds) f, ff (huff), l, and recapping all tricky words to date - I, no, go, to, the, into. A tricky word is a word which cannot be sounded out. Mrs Stockburn’s group are also recapping all the tricky words, and learning the phonemes ll (doll), and ss (mess).
This week we are learning about the Christmas Story, and understanding why we celebrate Christmas. We also have our Christmas storytelling session with Rogan Mills.
Remember to sign up for the EYFS drop-in sessions next week, Tuesday or Thursday. Please just sign up to one session per family. Thank you.

Below is a link to a website to read about how you can improve your child’s vocabulary at home. There is a strong emphasis on language and communication in the new EYFS curriculum, so please take time to read this. We would also recommend that you read to your child every night in order to develop their language and vocabulary.
