Computing Curriculum

At St. John’s C of E (VA), Cliviger, we follow the National Curriculum Programme of Study for Computing.

We believe that computing plays a large part in ensuring that our pupils are “Ready for Life” as they have chance to investigate and solve problems. Computing at St John’s should give children knowledge and understanding of the three key areas of the computing curriculum: digital literacy, information technology and computer science. There should be opportunities to link with PSHE and Safer Internet Day and discuss online safety; this should also be included during lessons throughout the year. These lessons are vital in our ever-changing world of technology and updates, to ensure we help equip our children to be resilient and sensible in the digital world.

We follow the Purple Mash scheme of work and adapt this to fit with our own Adventurous Afternoons.

Digital Leaders

We have digital leaders from Year 2-6. Our job is to promote online safety and computing across the school. We plan competitions, lead assemblies, help other pupils and teachers in computing lessons, conduct pupil interviews and much, much more!
